Hi,
See below an update from the JIEB campaign sent on Friday which gives a complementary good overview of what recently happened.
In addition, I wanted to flag that the CSDDD is on the agenda for the COREPER meeting of this Wednesday 13th of March but it might still be postponed to Friday for political and deal-making reasons.
Best,
Muriel

Hi all,
So, no vote today either! If you don't already know, quite a lot's happened this week, and yet the situation's still in a deadlock:
* Finland and Luxembourg are now publicly supporting CSDDD, and committed to vote in favour! If you've been playing with the Council's voting calculator, that brings the total number of countries in favour above 15: one of the two conditions is seemingly secured. * In an effort to force a shift in the deadlocked negotiations, the BE presidency issued a new proposal https://twitter.com/timolmn/status/1765317456409592126 . There's lots in it that we would have rallied against only a few weeks ago, but in the current situation it unfortunately looks like we're gonna have to swallow the pill. Of course this is your individual or organisational decision, but if you're looking for a starter skeleton, here's how FoEE's and ECCJ's reactions are structured:
* These concessions are detrimental to both the word and spirit of the directive, and are very damageable to human rights and environmental protection across the globe. * The mere fact they exist, three months after regular negotiations were closed in the trilogue agreement mid-december, generates grave concerns about the state of EU democracy and the vulnerabilities of the decades-old legislative process. * With that said, we urge all parties to come to an agreement as quickly as possible. (leaving it unsaid, but effectively supporting the compromise at this stage)
* But, and that's a big one: Germany still won't move, Italy's still not straight-forward about what it wants and France - despite countless private assurances that it's all in for CSDDD - conspicuously refuses to provide public support for the directive, when its ministers aren't straight up derailing negotiations. And unless we can get two of them to commit, there won't be any CSDDD.
So, here we go again. Next vote slot is rumoured to be Friday 15th, but could also be Wednesday 13th. As you probably know by now, all bets are off, and predictions aren't particularly useful if we don't have a positive tally prediction. Stay engaged, take care of yourselves, be patient, and if you need anything, shoot Anya Frances an email.

Eva
