About the webinar:
As the Marshall Islands commemorates the 70th anniversary of the US detonation of the Castle Bravo nuclear test, about 1,000 times as powerful as the Hiroshima bomb, the Human Rights Council has mandated a new study on the human rights legacy of nuclear weapons testing in the Marshall Islands. On 4 March, 14 UN experts issued a joint statement https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/03/un-experts-urge-states-address-human-rights-impact-nuclear-testing urging states to address the human rights legacy of testing. One week after the anniversary of the Castle Bravo test, the world marks International Women鈥檚 Day. The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) invites you to a high-level webinar to educate members of the ICAN campaign and the broader public about the lasting human rights legacy, including gendered and environmental impacts, of the Castle Bravo nuclear explosion.
